The FDO is located in the Al Wusta Governorate, which is situated along the central coast of Oman. This region is known for its thriving fishing industry and is home to some of the country's largest fishing ports. The FDO's location in this region allows it to have easy access to the abundant fish stocks that are found in the waters of the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. The location of Oman also makes it an important player in the global seafood market considering its proximity to major markets in Asia and Europe, as well as its access to major shipping lanes, allows it to efficiently export its seafood products to these markets.

THE CHALLENGE

Treatment of Seawater for Fish Farming

Clear Water Solutions was approached by Fisheries Development Oman (FDO) as they were facing challenges in their fish farming operation due to the unavailability of a reliable source of clean water. The location of their fish farm near the coast meant that seawater was the only available source of water for their operations. However, the seawater had high levels of salinity and other impurities, which were harmful to the fish and affecting the growth rate.
